Wild Bird Activity in Menifee: Brewer's Blackbird
I made this post in Instagram regarding the wild bird activity. I read somewhere that documenting wildlife activity in your garden journal is a good idea, so, here goes.
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA// There's about three different types of birds that I see regularly in this area. The most frequent is the house finch and next to that is the dove. The third most common is what I believe to be the Brewer's Blackbird (Euphagus cyanocephalus).

Midnight Sage Propagation | 4" Pots
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA\\ This post is a bit of humble brag but, it's also an experiment. I have a few reservations about how these cuttings are going to do. I only pulled out four of them to see how it goes. Let me lay it out for you.

The Greenhouse Sandbox Method of Propagation
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA\\ I've only been building this blog since April 2019. Anything older has been added retroactively as this is intended to serve as a science journal. However, I haven't been propagating for very much longer.

The Glass Bottle Test Tube Method of Propagation
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA\\ I've had some success with propagation in various methods. I've put some sticks directly into soil. I've used sand and even just a plain ol' glass of water! In fact, aside from the succulents and cacti cuttings, I've had the most success with this method, known as the Test Tube Method. Here's a recount of the Glass Bottle trial.
The Plastic Bottle Test Tube Method of Propagation
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA\\ I've had some success with propagation in various methods. I've put some sticks directly into soil. I've used sand and even just a plain ol' glass of water! In fact, aside from the succulents and cacti cuttings, I've had the most success with this method, known as the Test Tube Method. This is what happened when I used Plastic Bottles.

I Made a Beehouse in My Back Yard
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA | It doesn't get cold enough, here (at least not for long enough) to warrant the use of a fireplace and I don't have a firepit, yet! Somehow, though, this piece of chopped lumber was laying around in a junk corner outside and I decided that it was time to finally build that beehouse.

SPRING BLOG | Reflecting on an Historic SoCal Winter
The surrounding hills and fields that are usually brown with little vegetation are suddenly covered in a lush green. Some of the distant mountains, even, still have a healthy snow cap. With all of this water, it’s interesting to wonder what to expect as far as irrigation this summer.

Painted Lady Butterfly Migration 2019
MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA\\ After an historic winter in California, Painted Lady Butterflies migrated through the state and up the coast by the millions! The significant rainfall that produced the Superbloom has also created an ideal circumstance for the butterfly and the caterpillar. Simply put, more plants to eat means more bugs to eat them, including the Painted Lady.
